Possible Topic Ideas:
- Is it unethical to eat meat?
- Are security cameras an invasion of our privacy?
- Is drug testing athletes justified?
Experts I Could Interview:
- Environmental ethics professor and a vegetarian (who chose to be one for the sake of the planet & animals)
- Security guard and a computer science professor
- Athletics coach and an exercise science professor
What I Already Know/What I Hope to Explore:
- I already know that the processing of meat is harmful to the environment and the animals. I want to learn more about the ethical factors that go into people choosing to be vegetarian and/or vegan.
- Security cameras have become widespread through the country usually for safety reasons, however I want to look deeper into the negative reasons for having security cameras.
- Almost all athletes are forced to take drug tests at random, and I want to know more about how it effects their social lives & whether or not they agree with these mandatory tests.
Why the Audience Would Find These Topics Interesting:
- The environmental issues going on in the world are scary & very much real, so people are interested to know more about what we can do to help save the earth. Also, the idea of eating meat is a very opinionated topic that people would want to learn about & understand.
- Growing up, teens around my age have been growing up being watched on security cameras, so it is a topic the audience can relate to & also form their own opinions about it.
- Being a college student, many of us have friends on the athletic teams here at High Point. It will be interesting to hear the opinions & ideas that come from our friends who experience it first hand.
